Harvest 2021 in the door

Harvest 2021 is in the door, and in record time. This is the first time in the history of Sleight of Hand Cellars that we have had all of our fruit in the door before October 1st! The great news is that the quality of this vintage is VERY high. Jerry, Trey, and Keith think these could be some of the best wines that SOFH has made to date. These wines are already showing tremendous concentration, with dark colors and ample tannin for the reds, while also showing off the layers and layers of fruit flavors, even at this very young stage. The Chardonnay and Rose’ are also showing more weight and texture, while showing off the energy that our Chardonnay and Rose’ are known for. The bad news is that there is not a lot to go around. Yields were down significantly, about 33% overall, due to a poor crop set during bloom, and the extreme heat of late June and early July.
