May 4th, Saturday night, at the winery we will be hosting a wine dinner with our great friend and amazing chef, Andrae Bopp of Andrae’s Kitchen (and of recent Travel and Leisure Magazine fame!!). Andrae will be dishing out a killer 4 course dinner at the tasting room (outside, weather permitting) for our favorite folks. We will dig deep in the cellar and pair the dinner with our best wines, of course! Mark Pickerel and the Peyote 3 + Ian Moore and the Mescal 4

After our Wine Club Pickup Party at our SODO location, join us for an unforgettable night of music with Mark Pickerel and the Peyote 3 plus Ian Moore and the Mescal 4 at Sleight of Hand Cellars SODO in Seattle on April 13th!!
**Purchase tickets here!

From the wild and wooly and weird Pacific Northwest, Mark Pickerel has quite the back story. He was the drummer in seminal grunge faves The Screaming Trees, and has played on albums with Mark Lanegan, Brandi Carlile, Neko Case and some band from Aberdeen named ... er ... um ... Nirvana or something like that. He even owned the most culturally and musically diverse record store in Eastern Washington. Independent retail, now THAT'S a character builder.

New discoverers of Moore’s live shows and last few records are coming on board every day, as his live shows have graduated once again from barrooms to bigger stages and warmer rooms, despite a blustery big stage headlining appearance this past New Years Eve at Auditorium Shores in Austin. Moore delivered in gloves and muffler, despite snow and 27 degrees (In Texas!)
On the triumphant “You Gotta Know My Name,” Moore lampoons rich, entitled hipster kids. “They get their marching orders from Pitchfork and fill their brains with coke and MDMA, looking for soul and depth,” Moore explains. “The chorus is a way of claiming my space as a person that has been slogging it out, in and out of fashion for most of my career, with a deeper sense of music, style and substance than the people that might quickly write me off.”

The anthemic “Lords of the Levee” is a contemporary, relevant take on the atmosphere of the U.S. right now. “It’s an attack on group thought,” Moore says, “which is most typically shrouded in God and country, that allows people to do some really terrible things. I wrote it about the Alabama voters rights act, and how the people that opposed it used both God and country to justify their abhorrent behavior.” It captures Ian’s blistering live sound probably better than any recording he’s released in recent memory.

The catchy, propulsive “Looking for the Sound” is a play on the record title “El Sonido Nuevo,” which he wrote with his last group, the Lossy Coils. “It comes from a Mighty Boosh skit, but the gist of the song is about what it is to be a touring musician, trying to build soul and culture, still believing the same things I believed when I was 18, and looking for open hearts and minds to feel it.”

On other tracks on the record, “Satellite” and the slightly outrageous “Rock N Roll,” Moore explores the underbelly of rock, the bright side and the dangers of living your life in the magic of midnight.

Toronto releases May 25, 2018, on Last Chance Records in the US and on Rough Trade in Europe. Moore will be touring in support of the record in the U.S. and Europe for all of 2018.

After the pickup party, we are hosting a great concert that evening with Mark Pickerel and guests (purchase tickets). No RSVP required. See you there!

2016 Archimage Red Wine – 92-94 Points

The 2016 Archimage checks in as a blend of 50% Cabernet Franc, 47% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon, brought up in 44% new French oak. Deep ruby/purple-colored with gorgeous notes of blackberries, leafy herbs, and exotic flowers, as well as just a hint of background oak, this beauty is full-bodied, concentrated, and elegant on the palate, with great tannin. It's another wine that's going to age gracefully.

2016 Illusionist Cabernet Sauvignon – 92-95 Points

Blueberries, cassis, lead pencil and hints of graphite all emerge from the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Illusionist, which is beautifully layered, silky and pure on the palate. With medium to full-bodied richness, ultra-fine tannin, and a great finish, it's another terrific wine from Trey. Drink it over the coming decade or more. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, all aged 20 months in 64% new French oak.
